Changes to eastlondonhistory.com

Regular visitors may notice that we’re a work in progress just now … part of the business of shifting eastlondonhistory.com over to a new platform and server. You may find that some familiar pages are showing up dead, you may also notice that a large number of pages are no longer here. Patience! There are some 700 or more pages to be brought over and it takes time, but it will all be in place over the next few weeks. You’ll be able to find a list of all the London history features on the ‘London history features’ page … logically enough. You’ll notice that as they come live they will also be showing as live links. No link (blue underlined text) no feature. But they’ll all be there in time.

Other changes are that there will be pictures on the website, and I’m in the process of recording the pieces as ‘podcasts’ (very 21st century). This is largely for partially sighted visitors, as many potential readers have difficulty with the onscreen text. Look for a little link saying ‘Listen to voice attachment’ at the end of a feature … the first one up being the recent piece about East End artist David Bomberg, one of the famed Whitechapel Boys. More changes soon, I’ll keep you posted. Keep visiting, and if you like the ‘endearingly scrappy’ eastlondonhistory.com (thanks Time Out) then link to us.
